👓 Visionary Zeal & Righteous Anger 😠

Brother Lance ( Lance McClintock ) Season 2 Episode 181

Send us a text

Visionary Zeal: Zealously Serving God is mandated in the Bible, yet it is not always easy. Even more than that, it can lead to Righteous Anger. We must remember that anything that disrupts the norm and tries to reset life to the righteous path of God’s will, is often met with resistance and defamation against the deliverer of the messenger. We must forsake all and deliver the words of God. Seek first the kingdom of God and make Him happy above all else. We must burn with an unquenchable fire for God’s glory. #Zeal #RighteousAnger #Boldness

Jeremiah 6:10-11 “I answered, “Who would listen if I spoke to them and warned them? Their ears are so closed that they cannot hear! Indeed, the LORD’s message is offensive to them. They do not like it at all.  (11)  I am as full of anger as you are, LORD, I am tired of trying to hold it in.” The LORD answered, “Vent it, then, on the children who play in the street and on the young men who are gathered together. Husbands and wives are to be included, as well as the old and those who are advanced in years.”

Jeremiah 20:7-13 “LORD, you coerced me into being a prophet, and I allowed you to do it. You overcame my resistance and prevailed over me. Now I have become a constant laughingstock. Everyone ridicules me.  (8)  For whenever I prophesy, I must cry out, “Violence and destruction are coming!” This message from the LORD has made me an object of continual insults and derision.  (9)  Sometimes I think, “I will make no mention of his message. I will not speak as his messenger anymore.” But then his message becomes like a fire locked up inside of me, burning in my heart and soul. I grow weary of trying to hold it in; I cannot contain it.  (10)  I hear many whispering words of intrigue against me. Those who would cause me terror are everywhere! They are saying, “Come on, let’s publicly denounce him!” All my so-called friends are just watching for something that would lead to my downfall. They say, “Perhaps he can be enticed into slipping up, so we can prevail over him and get our revenge on him.  (11)  But the LORD is with me to help me like an awe-inspiring warrior. Therefore those who persecute me will fail and will not prevail over me. They will be thoroughly disgraced because they did not succeed. Their disgrace will never be forgotten.  (12)  O LORD of Heaven’s Armies, you test and prove the righteous. You see into people’s hearts and minds. Pay them back for what they have done because I trust you to vindicate my cause.  (13)  Sing to the LORD! Praise the LORD! For he rescues the oppressed from the clutches of evildoers.”

Same For The People Of God And The Government.

Exodus 6:12a “But Moses replied to the LORD, “If the Israelites did not listen to me, then how will Pharaoh listen to me, ….”

    Nothing Has Changed.

Acts 7:51-53 “You stubborn people, with uncircumcised hearts and ears! You are always resisting the Holy Spirit, like your ancestors did!  (52)  Which of the prophets did your ancestors not persecute? They killed those who foretold long ago the coming of the Righteous One, whose betrayers and murderers you have now become!  (53)  You received the law by decrees given by angels, but you did not obey it.”

Despite the constant resistance in the world and the church, we are mandated to rise up and passionately say the hard things that often create enemies and broken relationships. In this study, we will focus more on the personal responsibility for all believers to become flaming blowtorches of God’s Love and Truth. God does not want wallflowers. He requires a zealous people who are passionate for His Name and glory. As we go over this study, I want us to think about how we can become a great light, a louder voice, and a beacon of truth in love. Most do not realize that they have been taught by the world to be silent, to know their place, and to hold their peace. This is not God’s way, nor the calling of a true follower of Jesus. We unlearn these lies and become disruptive to the worlds system and the dead, dying church. Just as was said about Paul and Silas in Acts 17:6  “These who have turned the world upside down have come here too”, it is time to be a problem the world cannot deny.

Jesus Declares: Revelation 3:19 “As many as I love, I reprove and chasten. Be zealous therefore, and repent.” BE HOT, BE ON FIRE FOR GOD AND JESUS!

So, What Does It Mean To Be Zealous?

Warning In Full For The End Days Church

Revelation 3:14-19 “To the angel of the assembly in Laodicea write: “The Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of God’s creation, says these things:  (15)  “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were cold or hot.  (16)  So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of my mouth.  (17)  Because you say, ‘I am rich, and have gotten riches, and have need of nothing;’ and don’t know that you are the wretched one, miserable, poor, blind, and naked;  (18)  I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, that you may become rich; and white garments, that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes, that you may see.  (19)  As many as I love, I reprove and chasten. Be zealous therefore, and repent.”

The Reward For Being Zealous (On Fire)And Repenting Of Your Sins And Failure To Stay Passionately In Love With God.

Revelation 3:20-22 “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, then I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with me.  (21)  He who overcomes, I will give to him to sit down with me on my throne, as I also overcame, and sat down with my Father on his throne.  (22)  He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies.”

Titus 2:11-15  “For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men,  (12)  instructing us to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we would live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age;  (13)  looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ;  (14)  who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify for himself a people for his own possession, zealous for good works.  (15)  Say these things and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no man despise you.”

The Punishment For Being Timid, Fearful, And Afraid

The Word Here Translated “Cowardly” is as follows:

Strong’s Concordance G1169: - δειλός – deilos - di-los'

From δέος deos (dread); timid, that is, (by implication) faithless: - fearful.

Revelation 21:5-8  “He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” He said, “Write, for these words of God are faithful and true.”  (6)  He said to me, “I have become the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give freely to him who is thirsty from the spring of the water of life.  (7)  He who overcomes, I will give him these things. I will be his God, and he will be my son.  (8)  But for the cowardly, unbelieving sinners, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their part is in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”

BE THOU THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD

God Wants The Entire Person With A Heart Of Fire, Zealous For What Is Right And True.

Jeremiah 29:11-14 “For I know what I have planned for you,’ says the LORD. ‘I have plans to prosper you, not to harm you. I have plans to give you a future filled with hope.  (12)  When you call out to me and come to me in prayer, I will hear your prayers.  (13)  When you seek me in prayer and worship, you will find me available to you. If you seek me with all your heart and soul,  (14)  I will make myself available to you,’ says the LORD. ‘Then I will reverse your plight and will re-gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have exiled you,’ says the LORD. ‘I will bring you back to the place from which I exiled you.”

Let Your Light Shine.

Matthew 5:13-16 “You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be salted? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men.  (14)  You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can’t be hidden.  (15)  Neither do you light a lamp, and put it under a measuring basket, but on a stand; and it shines to all who are in the house.  (16)  Even so, let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”

What Is This Light? (God & Christ In You!)

2 Corinthians 4:5-6  “For we don’t preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake;  (6)  seeing it is God who said, “Light will shine out of darkness,” who has shown in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”

Yet, This Is The Point, Is It Not? Many Claim The Light Of Christ, Yet They Have Little To None. They Cannot Let Shine In Them That Which Is Not Present.

Romans 8:9-11 “But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if it is so that the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if any man doesn’t have the Spirit of Christ, he is not his.  (10)  If Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the spirit is alive because of righteousness.  (11)  But if the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.”

Matthew 7:17-20  “Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit.  (18)  A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruits, nor can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.  (19)  Every tree that does not bring forth good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.  (20)  Therefore by their fruits you shall know them.”

How Can We Judge Ourselves & See If

We Have The Light Of Christ?

Are We Truly, Consistently Doing His Will?

Matthew 7:21-23 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.  (22)  Many will tell me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in your name, in your name cast out demons, and in your name do many mighty works?’  (23)  Then I will tell them, ‘I never knew you. Depart from me, you who work iniquity.’”

Are We Living Without Fear Of Mankind, Friend, & Family?

Matthew 10:26-28 “Therefore do not fear them, for there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed, and nothing hidden which shall not be known.  (27)  What I tell you in darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear, proclaim on the housetops.  (28)  And do not fear those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul. But rather fear Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”

Matthew 10:34-39 “Do not think that I have come to bring peace on earth. I did not come to send peace, but a sword.  (35)  For I have come to set a man against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.  (36)  And a man's foes shall be those of his own household.  (37)  He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.  (38)  And he who does not take up his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me.  (39)  He who finds his life shall lose it. And he who loses his life for My sake shall find it.”

Are We Consistently Denying Our Selfish Desires And Sacrificing For God?

Mark 8:34-38 “And calling near the crowd with His disciples, He said to them, Whoever will come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.  (35)  For whoever will save his life shall lose it; but whoever shall lose his life for My sake and the gospel's, he shall save it.  (36)  For what shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul?  (37)  Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?  (38)  Therefore whoever shall be ashamed of Me and of My Words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man shall also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”

Is The Darkness Overcoming Your Light By Silent Compliance?

John 1:4-5 “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.  (5)  And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overtake it.”

If You Claim To Be Filled With The Light Of God & Christ, Are You Actively, Relentlessly Fighting Against The Darkness? Without Fail, Without Excuse For Peace And Safety?

John 3:19-21 “And this is the condemnation, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than the Light, because their deeds were evil.  (20)  For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light, lest his deeds should be exposed.  (21)  But he who practices truth comes to the Light so that his works may be revealed, that they exist, having been worked in God.”

  Jesus Declares!

John 8:12 “Then Jesus spoke again to them, saying, I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

Hold Not Your Light Back, Hold Not Your Tongue From The Truth & Hold Not Your Testimony From This Dark, Dead World.

Romans 13:11-14  “This also, knowing the time, that it is already time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we believed.  (12)  The night is far spent, the day is at hand; therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.  (13)  Let us walk becomingly, as in the day; not in carousing and drinking; not in co-habitation and lustful acts; not in strife and envy.  (14)  But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not take thought beforehand for the lusts of the flesh.”

Luke 6:43-45 “For a good tree does not bring forth corrupt fruit, neither does a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.  (44)  For every tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush.  (45)  A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth the good. And an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth the evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.”

Let Your Testimony And Your Endless Declaration Of The Glory Of God, Jesus, and Their Truth Separate You From Those Who Are Refusing His Love.

2 Corinthians 6:14-18 “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers; for what fellowship does righteousness have with lawlessness? And what partnership does light have with darkness?  (15)  And what agreement does Christ have with Belial? Or what part does a believer have with an unbeliever?  (16)  And what agreement does a temple of God have with idols? For you are the temple of the living God, as God has said, "I will dwell in them and walk among them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people."  (17)  Therefore come out from among them and be separated, says the Lord, and do not touch the unclean thing. And I will receive you  (18)  and I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”

Ephesians 5:6-21 “Let no man deceive you with vain words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the children of disobedience.  (7)  Therefore do not be partakers with them.  (8)  For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light  (9)  (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth),  (10)  proving what is acceptable to the Lord.  (11)  And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.  (12)  For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.  (13)  But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.  (14)  Therefore he says, "Awake, sleeping ones! And arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light."  (15)  See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,  (16)  redeeming the time, because the days are evil.  (17)  Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.  (18)  And do not be drunk with wine, in which is excess, but be filled with the Spirit,  (19)  speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;  (20)  always giving thanks for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,  (21)  submitting yourselves to one another in the fear of God.”

To Be Full Of Light, We Must Forsake The Pleasures and Comforts Of This Life.

Matthew 6:19-24 “Do not lay up treasures on earth for yourselves, where moth and rust corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal.  (20)  But lay up treasures in Heaven for yourselves, where neither moth nor rust corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.  (21)  For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.  (22)  The light of the body is the eye. Therefore if your eye is sound, your whole body shall be full of light.  (23)  But if your eye is evil, your whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!  (24)  No one can serve two masters. For either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will hold to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.”

What It Looks Like To Be Zealous

It looks like one person doing what no one else around them is willing to do. This one person is seeking God’s good pleasure and protecting His Name above all else. A person willing to pay the price of upsetting everyone around them to fulfill God’s will.

  Phinehas

Numbers 25:1-13 “When Israel lived in Shittim, the people began to commit sexual immorality with the daughters of Moab.  (2)  These women invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods; then the people ate and bowed down to their gods.  (3)  When Israel joined themselves to Baal-peor, the anger of the LORD flared up against Israel.  (4)  The LORD said to Moses, “Arrest all the leaders of the people, and hang them up before the LORD in broad daylight, so that the fierce anger of the LORD may be turned away from Israel.”  (5)  So Moses said to the judges of Israel, “Each of you must execute those of his men who were joined to Baal-peor.”  (6)  Just then one of the Israelites came and brought to his brothers a Midianite woman in the plain view of Moses and of the whole community of the Israelites, while they were weeping at the entrance of the tent of meeting.  (7)  When Phinehas son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he got up from among the assembly, took a javelin in his hand, (8) and went after the Israelite man into the tent and thrust through the Israelite man and into the woman’s abdomen. So the plague was stopped from the Israelites.  (9)  Those that died in the plague were 24,000.  (10)  The LORD spoke to Moses:  (11)  “Phinehas son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, has turned my anger away from the Israelites, when he manifested such zeal for my sake among them, so that I did not consume the Israelites in my zeal.  (12)  Therefore, announce: ‘I am going to give to him my covenant of peace.  (13) So it will be to him and his descendants after him a covenant of a permanent priesthood, because he has been zealous for his God, and has made atonement for the Israelites.’”

  Jesus

John 2:13-17 “Now the Jewish feast of Passover was near, so Jesus went up to Jerusalem.  (14)  He found in the temple courts those who were selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers sitting at tables.  (15)  So he made a whip of cords and drove them all out of the temple courts, with the sheep and the oxen. He scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.  (16)  To those who sold the doves he said, “Take these things away from here! Do not make my Father’s house a marketplace!”  (17)  His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for your house will devour me.”

ü The Bible Reference Mentioned

Psalms 69:7-9 “For I suffer humiliation for your sake and am thoroughly disgraced.  (8)  My own brothers treat me like a stranger; they act as if I were a foreigner.  (9)  Certainly zeal for your house consumes me; I endure the insults of those who insult you.”

HIS Peculiar People

We are called to be Peculiar People- different, set apart, and unique. While at the same time, many of the churches in the west seek to be the same, conforming, and replicating the world system.

Deuteronomy 26:17-19 “You have today said that Jehovah is your God, and that you would walk in His ways, and keep His statutes and His commandments and His judgments, and listen to His voice.  (18)  And Jehovah has taken you today to be His peculiar people, as He has promised you, and to keep all His commandments,  (19)  and to make you high above all nations which He has made, in praise and in name and in honor, and that you may be a holy people to Jehovah your God, even as He has spoken.”

See Also:Exodus 19:5-6 + Deuteronomy 14:1-2

Titus 2:11-15  “For the grace of God that brings salvation hath appeared to all men,  (12)  Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;  (13)  Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ;  (14)  Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.  (15)  These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.”

1 Peter 2:9-10 “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:  (10)  Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.”

Be Courageous

Proverbs 28:1 “wicked person fled, though no one was pursuing, but the righteous person can be as confident as a lion.

Deuteronomy 31:5-8 “The LORD will deliver them over to you and you will do to them according to the whole commandment I have given you.  (6)  Be strong and courageous! Do not fear or tremble before them, for the LORD your God is the one who is going with you. He will not fail you or abandon you!”  (7)  Then Moses called out to Joshua in the presence of all Israel, “Be strong and courageous, for you will accompany these people to the land that the LORD promised to give their ancestors, and you will enable them to inherit it.  (8)  The LORD is indeed going before you – he will be with you; he will not fail you or abandon you. Do not be afraid or discouraged!”

Philippians 1:13-14  “The whole imperial guard and everyone else knows that I am in prison for the sake of Christ,  (14)  and most of the brothers and sisters, having confidence in the Lord because of my imprisonment, now more than ever dare to speak the word fearlessly.”

1 Thessalonians 2:1-2 “For you yourselves know, brothers and sisters, about our coming to you – it has not proven to be purposeless.  (2)  But although we suffered earlier and were mistreated in Philippi, as you know, we had the courage in our God to declare to you the gospel of God in spite of much opposition.”

Psalms 27:13-14 “I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of Yahweh in the land of the living.  (14)  Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh.”

Psalms 31:23-24  “Oh love Yahweh, all you his saints! Yahweh preserves the faithful, and fully recompenses him who behaves arrogantly.  (24)  Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who hope in Yahweh.”

We Must Speak Boldly The Words Of God! How Else Will They Be Saved?

Romans 10:17 “Then faith is of hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.”

Romans 10:13-14For everyone, "whoever shall call on the name of the Lord will be saved."  (14)  How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without preaching?”

Our Attitude (THE Lord’s Will BE Done)

Luke 11:2 “And He said to them, When you pray, say: Our Father, who is in Heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, as in Heaven, so also on the earth.”

2 Samuel 10:11-13 “He said, “If the Syrians are too strong for me, then you shall help me; but if the children of Ammon are too strong for you, then I will come and help you.  (12)  Be courageous, and let’s be strong for our people, and for the cities of our God; and may Yahweh do what seems good to him.”  (13)  So Joab and the people who were with him came near to the battle against the Syrians, and they fled before him.”

Revelation 12:10-11  “I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation, the power, and the Kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ has come; for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them before our God day and night.  (11)  They overcame him because of the Lamb’s blood, and because of the word of their testimony. They didn’t love their life, even to death.”

You Only Truly Love What You Are Willing

To Sacrifice And Fight For.

Show me what you are sacrificing for,

and I will show you what you love.

I fear those I love will become nothing more than constant dripping of rain upon the fire of my heart, constantly, through the needs and desires of this life, attempting to extinguish the flame of my soul. So, I stay on guard and defiant, willing to be wrong, burning zealously for God rather than passively denying the truth entrusted to me.

Now I have many detractors who try to kill the messenger, since they cannot kill the message. Many do not like how I say things, my tone, and my passionate delivery. Yet these are often the same people who are not saying anything at all for God. Doing very little to advance the cause of Christ, and wanting to second guess another person’s efforts. While at the same time, doing nothing of any value for God’s good pleasure and kingdom. You see, the critic is the devil’s fool, convincing themselves of their superiority in the vacuum of their efforts, fully enjoying the plank in their eye while worshiping their own opinion and tastes over that which God is pleased with.  We must not be held back by the wallflowers and naysayers. Please God, not man. Be bold, be loud, be courageous, and do it in love.

As you start to be a thorn in the flesh of this world, you should expect similar treatment- the same treatment Jesus and His disciples received. Do not fear it, run from it, and do not compromise. Embrace the battle, for it is the birthright of all the children of God. Turn and face the world, and in passionate love for God, let your voice be heard!

Will You Help Jesus Carry His Cross?
