We are led to believe that God burns people in Hell forever. Yet, this is not true. People do not burn in Hell forever. Nor will they find eternal life, burning in eternal hellfire. God is not that cruel, nor would it serve any purpose in the New Heaven and New Earth to continue to BBQ sinners. We are led to believe that God burns people in Hell forever. Yet, this is not true. People do not burn in Hell forever. Nor will they find eternal life, burning in eternal hellfire. God is not that cruel, nor would it serve any purpose in the New Heaven and New Earth to continue to BBQ sinners. So, with taking less time to snuff out all traces of sin from existence, let’s prove the truth that people do not burn in Hell forever. 

Note: This Study is based upon the “Amazing Facts Bible Study”. While I have enhanced, added, and corrected some things, the concept of “Hell” was first presented to me through this Amazing Facts Bible Study. While I do not agree with everything presented in those studies, the truth is the truth. The truth should always be celebrated. And I always want to give credit where it is due. I am not a fan of ministries that take someone else’s hard work for the Lord and then present it as their own. Ultimately in all things, God receives the glory. 

    Does God Enjoy Throwing People Into Hell? No!

Ezekiel 33:11 “Tell them, ‘“As I live,” says the Lord Yahweh, “I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why will you die, house of Israel?”’

    Where is Hell Going To Be? On The Earth!

2 Peter 3:10-13  “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will be dissolved with fervent heat, and the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.  (11)  Therefore since all these things will be destroyed like this, what kind of people ought you to be in holy living and godliness,  (12)  looking for and earnestly desiring the coming of the day of God, which will cause the burning heavens to be dissolved, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?  (13)  But, according to his promise, we look for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.”

Malachi 4:1-3  “For, behold, the day comes, it burns as a furnace; and all the proud, and all who work wickedness, will be stubble; and the day that comes will burn them up,” says Yahweh of Armies, “that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.  (2)  But to you who fear my name shall the sun of righteousness arise with healing in its wings. You will go out, and leap like calves of the stall.  (3)  You shall tread down the wicked; for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I make,” says Yahweh of Armies.”

    Will The Devil Be Tormenting People In Hell? No!

Ezekiel 28:17-19 “Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty. You have corrupted your wisdom by reason of your splendor. I have cast you to the ground. I have laid you before kings, that they may see you.  (18)  By the multitude of your iniquities, in the unrighteousness of your commerce, you have profaned your sanctuaries. Therefore I have brought out a fire from the middle of you. It has devoured you. I have turned you to ashes on the earth in the sight of all those who see you.  (19)  All those who know you among the peoples will be astonished at you.     Was Hell Created To Punish Sinners? No!

Matthew 25:41 “Then he will say also to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels;”

    Will Unrepentant Sinners Be Thrown Into Hell With Satan? Yes!

Revelation 20:11-15 “I saw a great white throne, and him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. There was found no place for them.  (12)  I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and they opened books. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged out of the things which were written in the books, according to their works.  (13)  The sea gave up the dead who were in it. Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them. They were judged, each one according to his works.  (14)  Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.  (15)  If anyone was not found written in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire.”

Revelation 21:8  “But for the cowardly, unbelieving, sinners, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their part is in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”

    Are There People And Angels In Hell Right Now? No!

2 Peter 2:9 “the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment;”

Job 21:30 “The wicked reserved to the day of destruction, they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.”

John 5:27-29 “He also gave him authority to execute judgment, because he is a son of man.  (28)  Don’t marvel at this, for the hour comes, in which all that are in the tombs will hear his voice,  (29)  and will come out; those who have done good, to the resurrection of life; and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment.”

    When Will This Happen?

John 12:48 “He who rejects me, and doesn’t receive my sayings, has one who judges him. The word that I spoke, the same will judge him in the last day.”

Daniel 12:2 “Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.”

Matthew 13:37-42  “He answered and said to them, He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man;  (38)  the field is the world; the good seed are the sons of the kingdom; but the darnel are the sons of the evil one.  (39)  The enemy who sowed them is the Devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.  (40)  Therefore as the darnel are gathered and burned in the fire, so it shall be in the end of this world.  (41)  The Son of Man shall send out His angels, and they shall gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who do iniquity,  (42)  and shall cast them into a furnace of fire. There shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.”

Revelation 20:7-10  (LITV-Literal Translation)  “Whenever the thousand years are ended, Satan will be set loose out of his prison,  (8)  and he will go to mislead the nations in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to assemble them in war, whose number is as the sand of the sea.  (9)  And they went up over the breadth of the land and encircled the camp of the saints, and the beloved city. And fire from God came down out of Heaven and burned them down.  (10)  And the Devil leading them astray was thrown into the Lake of Fire and Brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet were. And they were tormented day and night to the ages of the ages.” Not Forever!

1 Corinthians 15:44 “It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.”

1 Thessalonians 5:23 “And may the God of peace Himself sanctify you, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blamelessly at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 

    So What Is Thrown Into Hell? Jesus said: 

Matthew 10:28 “Don’t fear those who can kill the body, fear him “God” who is able to destroy the body and soul in hell.” 

So, the body and soul are destroyed in hell. We know that the spirit God breathes into us goes back to God from where it came when we die. 

Ecclesiastes 12:7 “Then the dust shall return to the earth as it was, and the spirit shall return to God who gave it.” 

    Will People Immortally Burn In Hell For All Time And Eternity? No!

Man Is Not Immortal: Job 4:17a “Is mortal man be more just than God….” 

Remember: This Is Why Adam And Eve Were Told To Leave The Garden:

Genesis 3:22-24 “Yahweh God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand, and also take of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever—”  (23)  Therefore Yahweh God sent him out from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken.  (24)  So he drove out the man; and he placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.”

OnlyGod Is Immortal: 1 Timothy 6:13+16 “I command you before God, who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate testified the good confession, …  (16)  who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light; whom no man has seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and eternal power. Amen.”

The Wages Of Sin Is Death, Not Immortality: Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Immortality Is Only Given To Those Who Repent And Obey Jesus: 1 Corinthians 15:53-55 “For this perishable body must become imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality. But when this perishable body will have become imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then what is written will happen: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”  (55)  “Death, where is your sting? Hell, where is your victory?”

Let’s Continue Now That We Know Man Is Mortal

    What are The Characteristics Of The Flames Of Hell?

Unquenchable Fire:  Matthew 3:11-12 “I indeed baptize you with water to repentance. But He who comes after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire;  (12)  whose fan is in His hand, and He will cleanse His floor and gather His wheat into the storehouse; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.” See Also: Jeremiah 17:27, 2 Chronicles 36:19-21.

Isaiah 66:24 “They will go out, and look at the dead bodies of the men who have transgressed against me; for their worm will not die, nor will their fire be quenched, and they will be loathsome to all mankind.”

Now We Can Understand The Bible When It Says “Eternal Flames”.

Eternal Fire: Jude 1:7 “Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them, having, in the same way as these, given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are shown as an example, suffering the punishment of eternal fire.”

We Can Clearly See And Know That Sodom And Gomorrah Are Not Still Burning.

2 Peter 2:6 “and the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah having turned to ashes, with an overthrow did condemn, an example to those about to be impious having set them;”

    How Long Will They Burn In Hell For?

Luke 12:47-48 “And that servant who knew his lord's will and did not prepare, nor did according to His will, shall be beaten with many stripes.  (48)  But he not knowing, and doing things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For to whomever much is given, of him much shall be required. And to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.”

    So People Do Not Burn In Hell Forever?

Correct. The Punishment is Eternal, Not The Punishing!

Hebrews 6:1-2  “Therefore leaving the teaching of the first principles of Christ, let’s press on to perfection—not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works, of faith toward God,  (2)  of the teaching of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.”

As We See Here, Salvation Is Eternal. Once The Decision Is Made, The Outcome Is Determined And Then Settled Forever.

Hebrews 5:8-9 “though he was a Son, yet learned obedience by the things which he suffered.  (9)  Having been made perfect, he became to all of those who obey him the author of eternal salvation,”

Matthew 25:45-46  “Then He shall answer them, saying, Truly I say to you, Inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.  (46)  And these shall go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into everlasting life.”

    What Is The End Of Those Who Burn In Hell?

Ezekiel 18:20a “The soul who sins, he shall die.” 

James 1:15 “Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin; and the sin, when it is full grown, produces death.”

Let’s Look At What Jesus Says!

Matthew 10:28 “Don’t fear those who can kill the body, fear him “God” who is able to destroy the body and soul in hell.” 

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.”

The Greek definition for perish from Strong’s G622 (ap-ol’-loomee; ) From G575 and the base of G3639; “to destroy fully (reflexively to perish, or lose), literally or figuratively: - destroy, die, lose, mar, perish.”

Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter by the narrow gate: for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it, Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Luke 17:26-30 “As it was in the days of Noah, Like wise also in the days of lot, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all, “Even so will it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.”

Matthew 22:2-7 “(2a) The kingdom of heaven is like unto…(7)But when the king heard this he was furious. And he sent out his armies, destroyed those murders, and burned up their city.” So, He was talking about the second coming in the Parable of the Wedding Feast.

And The Rest Of The Bible.

Philippians 3:18-19a “For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ; whose end is destruction….”

Romans 9:22 “What if God wanting to show his wrath and make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath prepared beforehand for destruction.” 

Revelation 11:18 “Your wrath has come, and the time of dead, that they should be judged, and that you should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints, and those who fear your name, small and great, and destroy those who destroy the earth.”

1 Corinthians 3:17 “If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.”

James 4:12a “There is one Lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy...”

Psalms 145:20 “Yahweh preserves all those who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy.”

Psalms 110:5-6 “The Lord is at Your right hand; He shall execute kings in the day of his wrath. He shall judge among the nations, He will fill the places with dead bodies, he will execute the heads of many countries.”

Psalms 21:8-10 “ Your hand shall find out all Your enemies; Your right hand shall find out those who hate You.  (9)  You shall make them as a fiery oven in the time of Your presence; Jehovah will swallow them up in His wrath, and the fire shall devour them.  (10)  Their fruit shall You destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the sons of men.”

Psalms 37:38-39 “As for transgressors, they shall be destroyed together. The future of the wicked shall be cut off.  (39)  But the salvation of the righteous is from Yahweh. He is their stronghold in the time of trouble.”

Psalms 37:9-10+20 “For evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for Yahweh shall inherit the land.  (10)  For yet a little while, and the wicked will be no more. Yes, though you look for his place, he isn’t there. (20) But the wicked shall perish. The enemies of Yahweh shall be like the beauty of the fields. They will vanish— vanish like smoke.”

Zephaniah 1:14-18 “The great day of Yahweh is near. It is near, and hurries greatly, the voice of the day of Yahweh. The mighty man cries there bitterly.  (15)  That day is a day of wrath, a day of distress and anguish, a day of trouble and ruin, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness,  (16)  a day of the trumpet and alarm, against the fortified cities, and against the high battlements.  (17)  I will bring distress on men, that they will walk like blind men, because they have sinned against Yahweh, and their blood will be poured out like dust, and their flesh like dung.  (18)  Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to deliver them in the day of Yahweh’s wrath, but the whole land will be devoured by the fire of his jealousy; for he will make an end, yes, a terrible end, of all those who dwell in the land.

What About Satan?

2 Thessalonians 2:8 “And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of his coming.”

Hebrews 2:14 “That through death He might destroy him who had power of death, that is the devil.”

After this, he must be freed for a short time.  (4)  I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus, and for the word of God, and such as didn’t worship the beast nor his image, and didn’t receive the mark on their forehead and on their hand. They lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.  (5)  The rest of the dead didn’t live until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.  (6)  Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Isaiah 66:22-24 “For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me,” says Yahweh, “so your offspring and your name shall remain.  (23)  It shall happen that from one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, all flesh will come to worship before me,” says Yahweh.  (24)  “They will go out, and look at the dead bodies of the men who have transgressed against me; for their worm will not die, nor will their fire be quenched, and they will be loathsome to all mankind.”

    When Will We Go And Look?

    Then God Cleans It All Up!

Revelation 21:1+4 “(1) And I saw a new heaven and a new earth. For the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. And the sea no longer is.(4) And God will wipe away all tears from their eyes. And there will be no more death, nor mourning, nor crying out, nor will there be any more pain; for the first things passed away.”

Something Else To Consider

The Example of Jesus Taking The Punishment Of Sin- He Didn’t Have To Burn Forever!

Matthew 26:61 “I Am able to destroy the temple of God and build it in three days.”

Luke 24:6-7 “He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He still in Galilee, “Saying, ‘The son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified; and the third day rise again.” 

Acts 2:31 “He seeing this before spoke of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither did his flesh see corruption.”

We all believe that Jesus paid the penalty for sin, a price we could not pay; and this penalty was paid in three days. Not over the next million years, because Jesus would still have to be in Hell to pay that debt in full. Now knowing that this penalty of sin, which is death, was completely paid for in three literal days, shows us that the Bible says we will not burn forever -because He did not burn forever. But, it does show that we will be totally destroyed.

As we can clearly see, people do not burn in hell forever. Nor do they receive eternal life while burning in hell. They receive just punishment for their sins and are then consumed away. Obviously, the father of lies, the murderer from the beginning, Satan, will burn the longest. Then they are turned into ash. Then God will make a new heaven and new earth free from sin and its stain. To conclude it all, God will wipe the tears from our eyes and remove the pain of our loved ones who did not make it. Then for the rest of eternity, there shall remain no more memories of these events. 

Isaiah 26:11-21 “Yahweh, your hand is lifted up, yet they don’t see; but they will see your zeal for the people, and be disappointed. Yes, fire will consume your adversaries.  (12)  Yahweh, you will ordain peace for us, for you have also done all our work for us.  (13)  Yahweh our God, other lords besides you have had dominion over us, but by you only will we make mention of your name.  (14)  The dead shall not live. The departed spirits shall not rise. Therefore you have visited and destroyed them, and caused all memory of them to perish.  (15)  You have increased the nation, O Yahweh. You have increased the nation! You are glorified! You have enlarged all the borders of the land.  (16)  Yahweh, in trouble they have visited you. They poured out a prayer when your chastening was on them.  (17)  Just as a woman with child, who draws near the time of her delivery, is in pain and cries out in her pangs; so we have been before you, Yahweh.  (18)  We have been with child. We have been in pain. We gave birth, it seems, only to wind. We have not worked any deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen.  (19)  Your dead shall live. My dead bodies shall arise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust; for your dew is like the dew of herbs, and the earth will cast out the departed spirits.  (20)  Come, my people, enter into your rooms, and shut your doors behind you. Hide yourself for a little moment, until the indignation is past.  (21)  For, behold, Yahweh comes out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity. The earth also will disclose her blood, and will no longer cover her slain.”
