Focus Verse:
Psalms 91:14-16 âThe LORD says, âBecause he is devoted to me, I will deliver him; I will protect him because he is loyal to me. (15) When he calls out to me, I will answer him. I will be with him when he is in trouble; I will rescue him and bring him honor. (16) I will satisfy him with long life, and will let him see my salvation.â
All the events leading up to Danielâs passing have changed my life. It has enhanced my perspective and understanding of Godâs love. It stands as a testimony of faith and dignity before death. Experiencing the great care God provided Daniel and the lengths He went to send him off into eternity astounds me. All the miracles, answered prayers, situation of events, and timings can only be God. For example: The power of God filling the room, the look in Danielâs eyes, the composure of his children, even down to God shutting Danielâs eyes after he passed. My hearts swells with love for such a caring Heavenly Father, who stoops low and cares for His children. Our Father God who joins in with us during these deep moments, and provides us joy during times of separation.
As we go over this, may we contemplate our own dads, or spiritual fathers. Let us consider the type of dads we want to be and become. May we also think of Daniel and see if we canât see these fruits in his life. None of us can be perfect, yet we can all strive to be more like Christ every day. In that, we will become dads leaving a Godly heritage.
It is not too late for all men of God to rise up in faith and become the dads God has called us all to be.
Proverbs 24:16a âIndeed a righteous person will fall seven times, and then gets up again,..â
The Heritage Of A Godly Father
Children Are A Blessing From God.
Psalms 127:3-5 âBehold, children are a heritage of Yahweh. The fruit of the womb is his reward. (4) As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the children of youth. (5) Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them. They wonât be disappointed when they speak with their enemies in the gate.â
As A Parent, Who They Are In The Lord Is Either A Blessing Or Curse To Their Kids.
Proverbs 17:6 âChildrenâs children are the crown of old men; the glory of children are their parents.â
A Fatherâs Obedience Brings Blessings To His Children.
Deuteronomy 6:5-9 âYou must love the LORD your God with your whole mind, your whole being, and all your strength. (6) These words I am commanding you today must be kept in mind, (7) and you must teach them to your children and speak of them as you sit in your house, as you walk along the road, as you lie down, and as you get up. (8) You should tie them as a reminder on your forearm and fasten them as symbols on your forehead. (9) Inscribe them on the doorframes of your houses and gates.â
Deuteronomy 28:1-4 âIt shall happen, if you shall listen diligently to Yahweh your Godâs voice, to observe to do all his commandments which I command you today, that Yahweh your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. (2) All these blessings will come upon you, and overtake you, if you listen to Yahweh your Godâs voice. (3) You shall be blessed in the city, and you shall be blessed in the field. (4) You shall be blessed in the fruit of your body, the fruit of your ground, the fruit of your animals, the increase of your livestock, and the young of your flock.â
Daniel was a faithful Commandment-keeping Sabbath observer, knowing that obeying Christ was to love God. Not earning his salvation, but responding to the saving of his soul through faith. May we all follow his example of obedient love.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8a âLove is patient and is kind; love doesnât envy. Love doesnât brag, is not proud, (5) doesnât behave itself inappropriately, doesnât seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; (6) doesnât rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; (7) bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love Never FailsâŚ..â
As we see in this short review of what a Godly Father looks like, I can attest that for the time I have known Daniel, he has desired to achieve and lay hold of all these standards. As a father myself, I seek daily to walk out the love of God and Christ in the same manner, always realizing that a dad is supposed to represent God within the house of a man of God. I believe Daniel was always seeking the same goal.
The Beautiful Passing Of Daniel
Angel had been instructed by the Spirit of God for many months prior to Danielâs passing to start getting things in order. Preparing them for what was to come. More recently, Sarah (a member of our Bible Study group), shared a dream with me before all this happened. She dreamed that the next time she came to Angelâs house, Daniel would not be there. These are some of the many preparations God had given His children to prepare us all for what was to come. And as we are about to read, it was to prevent despair. The goal was to give hope within us by seeing Godâs hand at work through it all.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 âBut we donât want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, so that you donât grieve like the rest, who have no hope. (14) For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. (15) For this we tell you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will in no way precede those who have fallen asleep. (16) For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with Godâs trumpet. The dead in Christ will rise first, (17) then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air. So we will be with the Lord forever. (18) Therefore comfort one another with these words.â
God Blessing The Righteous With Long Life
Born in 1933 Daniel was blessed with a very long life by God. He lived to be 90 years old.
Isaiah 46:3-4 âListen to me, O family of Jacob, all you who are left from the family of Israel, you who have been carried from birth, you who have been supported from the time you left the womb. (4) Even when you are old, I will take care of you, even when you have gray hair, I will carry you. I made you and I will support you; I will carry you and rescue you.â
Proverbs 20:29 âThe glory of young men is their strength, and the splendor of old men is gray hair.â
Proverbs 16:31 âGray hair is like a crown of glory; it is attained in the path of righteousness.â
The Events & Works Of God
Leading up to the end, Daniel had a couple weeks of lowering stamina and health. As my family woke up on May 19th, we all felt like something was off, so I texted Angel about coming over to visit them. As I felt I was supposed to be there. Talking it over with my wife and daughter, they felt the same way. No one was having a relaxing Sunday as the spirit was urging us all. Later that afternoon, after talking with Angel, I arrived at the house. The plan was for me to talk with Daniel and make a choice over the ambulance ride we had previously talked about to get him more fluids. Walking into the room, I knew immediately that death was at the door and proceeded to call the ambulance. Daniel went down fast and couldnât get up to give me a hug which he apologized for, as that is the man he is.
Angel said that God previously spoke to her spirit and said to make sure that I (Lance) go with her to the hospital if Daniel is to go. Once at the hospital, we eventually learned days later of the prognosis. Pneumonia caused by right side heart failure. Daniel was slowly suffocating without a constant source of oxygen. My wife insisted, being led by the Spirit of God, that I had to stay with Daniel at the hospital and help Angel.
Before this happened, I had been praying weeks in advance asking God that He would not let Daniel pass away until he was able to talk with all his children. And that he would be able to say his goodbyes, that he would not pass in the night alone, but surrounded by his children, and be able to bless them like Jacob. At this point, I am convinced he would have passed the night of Sunday the 19th. Yet, this was the start of another answered prayer. He did not pass and was able to remain with us until David (his son) could arrive from New Mexico.
Later in the week, I was able to go home and get some anointing oil. The plan was to anoint Daniel and seek the Lord for healing, following the example in the book of James.
James 5:14-15 âIs anyone among you ill? He should summon the elders of the church, and they should pray for him and anoint him with olive oil in the name of the Lord. (15) And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick and the Lord will raise him up â and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.â
In my spirit, I felt I needed to pray for Godâs will to be done. So as I anointed him, I prayed for his healing and the acceptance of Godâs will in this matter. Afterwards, I had this ongoing thought that the next time, to pour the oil on his head. As the first time I just wiped it on his head, hands, and feet. Later I found out why, as God was preparing me to anoint him for his burial. But at the time, I was like âwhat are You talking about? Thatâs going to make a mess!â Yes, I was being silly about it.
His son David stayed with him overnight Friday the 24th, leading into Saturday the 25th. Overall, it was not an eventful night, reading and sharing in their love for God and His word, with Daniel often watching David as he rested. When I arrived around 7:30 a.m. I thought I was just going to sit with him and hang out, keeping him company. As that was the plan for the three of us (Angel, David and myself.) We were going to stay with him 24/7 as much as we could. As his situation was critical and when he felt out of sorts, help reassure him for a faster recovery. Things turned real fast with his oxygen dropping to low, with very little options to increase his oxygen level left, and lungs that were at about 25% capacity.
I called Angel and told her that it would be a good idea for them to come up and be there. Choices had to be made and things were evolving very fast. From this point forward until he passed, Daniel transformed quickly. Daniel told me that he felt like he was getting up out of his body, that he was about to get up and walk out of his bed.
David and Angel arrived not long after, knowing in their spirits that the moment was fast upon us. Having already discussed days before with nurses the options and end of life care, the only thing left to do for Daniel would be inhuman and not worthy of sacrificing his dignity to attempt.
Instead of forcing a choice, we decided to ask Daniel what his wishes were. What was his desire? Explaining to him the situation, he said âI laid down and drifted off, and someone woke me up. And then I saw a mirror. I wanted to get up and walk off. It was crooked; I never saw anything like it.â
Angel asked if he thought it was time to go home and see Jesus. He responded: âYea, I guess so. I want to see Jesus. Yes, getting closer, all the time.â
Angel explained more about the situation. He then referenced a scripture: Romans 8:28. âHe said he was feeling sorry for himself and that verse came to mind. And boy, that one is a whopper.â
Romans 8:28 âWe know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.â
He then added that âeverything that happens to a Christian, the Lord is letting it. One of my favorite Scriptures.â Reassuring himself in the faith concerning his situation.
Angel was given a verse of Isaiah 43, and was given direction to a devotion that prepared her for his passing, prior. She then read to him Isaiah 43.
Isaiah 43:2 âWhen you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and flame will not scorch you.â
After Angel read to him Psalms 23, he wanted to rest. I suggested that they each take a turn spending time alone with him. David went first, then Angel took her turn. Angel walked out of the room with peace over the choices made. When asked by Angel if he was ready to go, Daniel responded with âOh, Iâm going! Iâm going to see Jesus today!â Throwing his arms up in the air.
Angel later told me how happy he was when told he was going home on the Sabbath. He stated âOh Praise God, going home on the Sabbath!â
As they were getting things arranged with the doctors, etc. I left to call my wife and let her know, as she was fasting for Daniel. As our conversation ended and we prayed. I went to go back to Danielâs room and God reminded me of my prayer for Daniel to bless his kids. Just like Jacob.
Hebrews 11:21 âBy faith, Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and worshiped, leaning on the top of his staff.â (See Genesis 47:31 -48:1-20)
So, I walked in and asked Daniel if he wanted to bless his kids. He went to it right away, first David then Angel. We have recorded many of these events, including this one. As I felt God wanted it recorded, so I did.
We were going to wait for the doctor, but Angel felt the moment was coming fast and that I needed to go ahead and anoint him for his burial. Following the example given to us by Christ, I anointed him.
Mark 14:3 âNow while Jesus was in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, reclining at the table, a woman came with an alabaster jar of costly aromatic oil from pure nard. After breaking open the jar, she poured it on his head.â
Mark 14:8 âShe did what she could. She anointed my body beforehand for burial.â
John 12:3 âThen Mary took three quarters of a pound of expensive aromatic oil from pure nard and anointed the feet of Jesus. She then wiped his feet dry with her hair. (Now the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfumed oil.â
Before we began, God gave me 2 verses to read and one to quote. I went and read him the following:
Psalms 116:15 âPrecious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servantsâ
Isaiah 57:1-2 âThe righteous perish, and no one takes it to heart; the devout are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil. Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death.â
Now I knew why God was saying to pour the oil on his head. So I told Angel I was going to pour it. Then I started anointing him in the name of Jesus, pouring then rubbing the oil onto his head and hair, then his hands, then his feet. When I started on his hands, he said âOh, Yesâ and as usual for Daniel praising God, saying âJesusâ. Then I said to him, âyou have run the race and are about to receive your crownâ, referencing the following verse:
2 Timothy 4:7-8 âI have fought the good fight. I have finished the course. I have kept the faith. (8) From now on, there is stored up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give to me on that day; and not to me only, but also to all those who have loved his appearing.â
David and Angel, both holding his hands, took turns praying over and for him. The power of God filled the room. Then the smell of the anointing oil flavored the air. Then the doctors entered at some point and started to take him off life support and give him the medication needed. All the while still with his arms up, praising Jesus all the way unto the end when his body finally gave out.
We Said The Aaronic Prayer Over Him
Numbers 6:24-27 âThe LORD bless you and protect you; (25) The LORD make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; (26) The LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.ââ (27) So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.â
We Also Said The Lordâs Prayer
Matthew 6:9-13 âTherefore pray in this way: Our Father, who is in Heaven, Hallowed be Your name. (10) Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. (11) Give us this day our daily bread; (12) and forgive us our debts as we also forgive our debtors. (13) And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil. For Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.â
The moment was rounded out with other prayers, songs, and blessings, each person doing their own thing for a time. When the moment was about to come, he opened his eyes real wide and looked like he was looking past Angel. A look of awe and wonder, and you could feel the barrier between the spirit realm and the earthly realm become paper thin. Then his body relaxed and his eyes closed and stayed closed, as he passed and his spirit went back to God, to find rest and peace from the toils of this life. We all agreed it was a good day. A hard day, but a good day in the Lord. Daniel entered the hospital 5/19/2024 around 5:30 pm, he left the hospital on 5/25/2024 @ 1:16 pm.
A Lasting Ministry Legacy
Of the many things that remains of the testimony and life of Daniel, his love for God and the desire to share it with the world must be mentioned.
This too is a blessing from God.
Psalms 92:12-15 âThe godly grow like a palm tree; they grow high like a cedar in Lebanon. (13) Planted in the LORDâs house, they grow in the courts of our God. (14) They bear fruit even when they are old; they are filled with vitality and have many leaves. (15) So they proclaim that the LORD, my protector, is just and never unfair.â
Weeks before his passing, Daniel told us of Jesus visiting him. He said he told God and Jesus that âhe wanted to stay here to take care of Angel and Brother Lance.â The response he received was that âAngel and Brother Lance will be okay.â Daniel longed to take care of Angel and continue to provide for this ministry and the spreading of the gospel. To this end I want to share what Daniel and Angel have helped to facilitate & accomplish; bearing spiritual fruit in his old age. Partaking in a mighty work for God until the day he passed. As in the hospital on Wednesday May 22nd, he asked me if we were going to have Bible Study that Thursday. I told him no, that we were taking care of him. That when one part of the body hurts, we all hurt, for we are the Body of Christ. He smiled and shook his head yes. Please understand how important ministry was to Daniel.
This is what Daniel help to accomplish as he finished strong for the Lord.

Daniel has the testimony of being good seed, as Jesus tells us, bearing much fruit.
Mark 4:20 âThose which were sown on the good ground are those who hear the word, and accept it, and bear fruit, some thirty times, some sixty times, and some one hundred times.â
Daniel was a man of constant prayer, and a songbird for the Lord. A mighty man of prayer, often staying up all night in prayer for his loved ones, like his daughter Angel. He would walk around his house with prayers on his lips and a song in his heart. Often heard going about his day praising God and expressing his love for God and Jesus. Willing to bear the burden of failing flesh to care for those he loved and to spread the Gospel, counting the suffering of no comparison to the glory of his God, trusting his Lord and Savior Jesus until his last breath and to the receiving of his spirit.
So, where does this leave us? In what manner should we move forward?
John 12:23-26 âJesus answered them, âThe time has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. (24) Most certainly I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains by itself alone. But if it dies, it bears much fruit. (25) He who loves his life will lose it. He who hates his life in this world will keep it to eternal life. (26) If anyone serves me, let him follow me. Where I am, there will my servant also be. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.â
Daniel has followed his Lord, giving his life to the saving of his very soul. That could be the end of the story. But it doesnât have to be. We can find inspiration from his life. We can follow his example. We can strive to press forward into a deeper walk and love with God. We can be inspired to dedicate ourselves to deeper levels of spreading the gospel. His passing is not the end. It very well can become the starting line for many of us to dedicate ourselves to Jesus, and the administration of the gospel to a dying world.
Our Heavenly Father â Orphans No More!
I must tell of one of those God-inspired encounters I had (Friday) the day before Daniel passed. I often hand out gospel postcards as street ministry. I had stopped at the post office to check the mail. I got in my car and God said in my spirit to go give a guy sitting in his car a postcard. So, I got out of the car walked over there and gave him the card. I told him that âIt tells about the love of God and Jesus.â He said, âOh I believe. I had lost my father, and I was crying. And God appeared to me and asked me why I was crying. I told Him I had just lost my father. He said; donât be sorrowful, for I am your Father. That man was your earthly dad. I am your Father, I made you.â Since then, this man has called God âFatherâ and Jesus his âbrotherâ.â What an event. I felt like it was a message for Angel and David. So I told them. Angel said it was confirmation, as God had told her the same thing. Praise God.
Matthew 23:9-11 âCall no man on the earth your father, for one is your Father, he who is in heaven. (10) Neither be called masters, for one is your master, the Christ. (11) But he who is greatest among you will be your servant.â
John 14:15-21 âIf you love me, you will obey my commandments. (16) Then I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you forever â (17) the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot accept, because it does not see him or know him. But you know him, because he resides with you and will be in you. (18) âI will not abandon you as orphans, I will come to you. (19) In a little while the world will not see me any longer, but you will see me; because I live, you will live too. (20) You will know at that time that I am in my Father and you are in me and I am in you. (21) The person who has my commandments and obeys them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and will reveal myself to him.â
Galatians 4:6-7 âBecause you are God's children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into us to call out, "Abba! Father!" (7) So you are no longer slaves but God's children. Since you are God's children, God has also made you heirs.â
1 John 5:1-5 âEveryone who believes that Jesus is the Messiah has been born from God, and everyone who loves the parent also loves the child. (2) This is how we know that we love God's children: we love God and keep his commandments. (3) For this demonstrates our love for God: We keep his commandments, and his commandments are not difficult, (4) because everyone who is born from God has overcome the world. Our faith is the victory that overcomes the world. (5) Who overcomes the world? Is it not the person who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?â
Romans 8:14-17 âFor as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. (15) For you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption by which we cry, Abba, Father! (16) The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God. (17) And if we are children, then we are heirs; heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ; so that if we suffer with Him, we may also be glorified together.â
Ephesians 1:2-3 âGrace be to you, and peace from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ. (3) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenlies in Christ;â
Honor Daniel And Follow His Example Of Faith
Even in his death, Danielâs life was a testimony. As the nurse who helped remove him from life support was standing there to monitor the situation, she had to leave the room as Daniel was praising Jesus while he was passing away- the spirit was just so thick. Also afterwards, Zach, the nurse that was taking care of him during that shift, came and thanked us. Appreciating the kindness we all showed to the staff. As Daniel was always saying âthank youâ to them and telling them that he loved them. Everyone present showed the world how believers in Christ respond in the face of death, and the hope we all retain through Jesus.
Let Us Continue To Follow Danielâs Witness
Hebrews 12:1-2 âTherefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, we must get rid of every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and run with endurance the race set out for us, (2) keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy set out for him he endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.â
If you would allow me, I believe Daniel would be pleased with the following advice. Knowing his heart and our many conversations, I believe he would seal the following with his approval. So, may we consider this a lasting message from a loving father?
Proverbs 3:1-12 âMy child, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, (2) for they will provide a long and full life, and well-being for you. (3) Do not let mercy and truth leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. (4) Then you will find favor and good understanding, in the sight of God and people. (5) Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding. (6) Acknowledge him in all your ways, and he will make your paths straight. (7) Do not be wise in your own estimation; fear the LORD and turn away from evil. (8) This will bring healing to your body, and refreshment to your inner self. (9) Honor the LORD from your wealth and from the first fruits of all your crops; (10) then your barns will be filled completely, and your vats will overflow with new wine. (11) My child, do not despise discipline from the LORD, and do not loathe his rebuke. (12) For the LORD disciplines those he loves, just as a father disciplines the son in whom he delights.â
Ecclesiastes 12:12-14 âBe warned, my son, of anything in addition to them. There is no end to the making of many books, and much study is exhausting to the body. (13) Having heard everything, I have reached this conclusion: Fear God and keep his commandments, because this is the whole duty of man. (14) For God will evaluate every deed, including every secret thing, whether good or evil.â
Colossians 3:12-17 âPut on therefore, as Godâs chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance; (13) bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do. (14) Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection. (15) And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. (16) Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your heart to the Lord. (17) Whatever you do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father, through him.â
My Text To The Group Announcing Daniel McClardâs Passing.
âThe earth has lost a mighty man of God. Heaven has gained back a mighty spirit in Christ. 5/25/2024 1:16 p.m. Praise God! Thank You, Jesus! This is the last picture taken right before he passed.â
âWe got to pray with him, read scriptures to him. Anoint him in the Lord. He blessed Angel and David and shared his love, such a blessed day in the Lord. A mighty testimony to the hope we have in Jesus.â
